Wilhelm's jaw dropped at the lack of help from the older boy. His eyes glanced from Alaric to the older man over and over again, not quite sure how to process what he was in for. "I- I-... He's my brother..." he managed.

Todd's eye shot up, "He is? Well you see, this man over here knows nothing of his past. 'Cept that not so generic name." Todd made a slight face, "Alaric is not all that common, eh?"
Alaric looked surprised at his commander. Surprised that that piece of information was given out.

Wilhelm's eyes sparkled as the commander's voice piped up. "Yes! Yes, sir, you're right. Not many people have that name, and my mother named him specifically for that reason-" The boy's eyes fell on his 'brother', a sad look in his eye. "-So he would be unique."

Alaric was pained for a moment, it felt bad for the poor boy who was so sure that Alaric was his brother. He shook his head, and began to think.
It was entirely possibly, logically, that Alaric was the young boy's brother. After all, he could only remember one thing from his past, which is his name. All else from the past had faded. The first thing that he remembered was being captured by Todd's men. Alaric looked at Todd for a moment wondering what his commander was thinking.
Todd nodded, "that is a good name to keep someone unique. But, do you have any other way that we can see if what you think to be true, really is the truth?"

At that moment, Wilhelm's voice cracked. "I-"
The commader had a point. With just a name, there was no way he could point out the other person as his brother. It was all hopeless. He sighed, looking down at the going with a forlorn gesture of hopelessness. "No... No, I don't," he mumbled.

Todd nodded, "that is a problem then huh? Cause I cannot justly keep two brothers from seeing one another, but I cannot have some random boy running around my camp. You see this place is very da-" But Todd was cut off by a loud shout. A man ran into the tent, holding his right arm as if injured.
"Sir, they have found us." Immeadiatly the tent was a flurry of movement. Men working to get stuff gathered and ready for transportation. Todd quickly looked from the little boy and then to Alaric.
"Alaric, take this boy and see him safely to his home."
"But sir, I am needed he-"
"Don't argue soldier, see him home safely, and do not get captured."
Alaric nodded, knowing that this was no time to argue with his commander. He ran over to Wilhelm and grabbed his arm. "Come on. We need to get out of here."

Alaric shook his head, "No buts this time. Now come on! Every second we sit here is a second we should have had to get out."

The sound of a slight gulp whispered through the tent. Wilhelm nodded, knowing now wasn't the time to try and get Alaric to remember him. Instead, he followed the other boy out of camp - where it was safe and they could talk without hesitation.

Alaric moved swiftly through the camp, checking that the duo was not being followed or spotted. He knew the path that he would take, they would go to where he had met the boy. From there, he would have to let the boy lead him, and just make sure that they are not discovered. The commander had told him to see Wilhelm home safely, and he would not fail in that endeavor.

Wilhelm's breathe clouded in front of him, a shiver traveling up his spine as they continued to run. He was getting a bit out of breath already.
"Are we... almost there...?" he asked, breathing quickly with every step they took, being dragged along by his arm through the forest.

Alaric glanced at the boy and nodded, he wondered how long the boy's stamina would last. His gazed shifted from the boy to the surrounding area. He knew that they were a long ways off from being safe, but he also knew that the boy would need more strength later on.
Alaric began to slow the pace, allowing the boy to set it. "Almost there. Once we get to a safe spot, we'll take a breather, okay?"

Wilhelm nodded in respsonse, his breath taken from him to stop him from saying anything. His breath would catch in his throat, on the dry, scratchy surface in there, and he didn't want to force himself into a coughing fit and become an even bigger burden on Alaric any more than he already was.
As they trudged along, Wilhelm's eyes scanned the surrounding area, not really noticing anything familiar. Then again, when he had followed Alaric, Wilhelm had been more interested in making sure he continued to follow his older brother rather than where exactly he was going.

Alaric breaked quickly, glancing around the area. He changed paths, his eyes constantly surveying where they were at. The sound of water was ahead, he just hoped that there was a place to hide. Even a simple willow would do better than the tall oaks that filled the forest.

Wilhelm's eyes were somewhere else when Alaric stopped abruptly. His nose went straight into the back of the other boy, and, while holding it, he muttered an apology.
As he glanced around suspiciously, Wilhelm walked around to Alaric's front questioningly. "...Why did we stop?" he asked, though he was grateful for the chance to catch his breath. His longs were burning now from running so far, and he could only imagine how Alaric could get through with running for such a long period of time.

Alaric took a deep breath to clear his mind, a place to hide was needed, and a place to hide they would get. Alaric could hear the tell tale sound of breaking branches as the threat neared.
Bushes. All there was, was bushes. Then an idea struck him. He took off his meager amount of armor and his sword and stashed them in some bushes. All that was remaining was his bow and quiver of arrows.
He looked at Wilhelm, his face serious. "No matter what I say or do, play along with me okay? We're going to have to use brains to get through this."

The sound of feet walking neared and Alaric shook his head. "Wilhelm, we have no time for this. Just please stay quiet and stay near me. There isn't a place to hide, and right now, this is all we've got."

Wilhelm gulped, sensing the impending danger, his eyes wide as he nodded slowly. "Al-...Alright..." he replied, a sound of fake confidence radiating from himself. He was at least a bit proud of that as he grabbed onto Alaric's sleeve.

Alaric pulled out an arrow and notched it into the bow. He aimed across the creek and released it a few seconds before the men walked out of the forest. Alaric whirled on them immediately.
"You idiots! You just scared off that deer I shot at!" He guestured at Wilhelm. “That was our supper. Now what will we do? Our sister needs meat, and we need our strength what with our father gone.”
Alaric kept the tirade up, trying to sound geniunely angry and not afraid. Afraid that the charade would not work. Finally, the man, who looked to be the leader held up his hand and spoke. “I am sorry about your meal, but surely there will be more. We are only searching for men from a camp of rebels. Have you seen any?”
Alaric feigned shock, “no sir we have not. The only males other than myself, you guys, and my family are the animals in the forest.” The man nodded his hand, and the group began to walk away. Alaric let out a small breath, hardly able to believe that it had worked.
