"A Miss Strausbury," answered Drummer, rather rushed so as to beat Gilbert to the quick.
"We think," corrected Gilbert. His finger probed the bluish shadow of bruises photographed on the victim's neck, calculating what Mr. Lankins had suggested.
"At this present point in time, anything could be considered." Gilbert's forehead skewed up in thoughtful wrinkles, a position it familiarly completed during his career as a detective. "I don't think this case is ripe enough to nick its roots just yet; pointing fingers right now is like pointing them in a dark room hoping to find a pin, you know?"
"You know," mumbled Drummer. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I'm hungry, Dan-Dan," whined Krissi.
"Are you really?" questioned Daniel, his mouth crookedly etched in a skeptical frown.
"Yeah..." Krissi had employed the pouty lip now, complete with enormous, four-year-old, crystal blue eyes.
Daniel laughed, picked her up, and hefted her on one hip. "Okay, Krissi babe, let's see what we have...."
They didn't have much, just a box of macaroni and a few drops of milk. "Looks like its macaroni again, baby..."
Krissi stuck her tongue out, wrinkling her nose. "I'm sick of macaroni, Dan-Dan!"
Daniel refrained from countering with, 'Well, if our Mom wasn't such an irresponsible jerk, we wouldn't have to live like this,' and merely said, "I know, baby. But maybe Mommy will go buy groceries."
Krissi shook her head. "Not Mommy. Mommy doesn't like me."
Daniel's grey eyes, so grey they were almost silver, widened as he looked incredulously at his sister. "Who told you that?"
"Nobody. But Mommy doesn't like me. She doesn't play with me or have tea parties."
Daniel tried to console the child. "That doesn't mean she doesn't like you..."
"Uh-huh," countered Krissi, "She doesn't like you either."
That was probably true, considering the number of fights Daniel had been in with his mother. Krissi had very large ears.
"She doesn't not like us, Krissi baby, she just....just..."
Thankfully, the pot boiled over, relieving him of having to explain the situation.

((I guess... hold on and I will fix this...)) Aidan heard the bell and walked to the door, opening it and smiling. He let her past, and then closed the door firmly shut, using all of the locks on it. Turning around he let out a breath of air. "Ready to get down and dirty with the murders?"

With a big smile, Viola replied,"You bet."
She walked straight to his room and found that he had cleaned up a bit. More than usual. She sat on the bed as he came in a few seconds behind her.
"So anything new since we stopped talking on the internet?"

Aidan shook his head, "not that I know of, but I only checked once since then. You never know when an autopsy gets put on." --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kern nodded silently and then looked up. "I don't remember that one... are you sure that's the name? Because I do not have anything on..." He stopped mid-sentence noticing that someone was outside the door, listening. When he stopped talking the sillouhete moved on, but it didn't take his feeling of being watched away.
Looking at one man, and then the other he spoke quietly and deliberatly. "I really do think that there is something on that nothing can be described... something unbelieveable..." He shook his head, something just didn't add up.

"Well then lets check whats going on." She smiled as Aidan started looking on the computer. They had always done this when they hung out together. His dad didn't like it all that much, but they did it anyway.

"Nothing on Miss Strausbury, eh? Hmmm...." Gilbert tapped his lip with his finger, considering this new angle. "Well, then, here, indulge yourself."
He presented the young woman's file to Mr. Lankins, before clapping a hand on Drummer's shoulder and announcing, "We still need Miss Thickets' file for observation. Come pester the Autopsy Clinic with me?"
If there was anything Drummer enjoyed doing with Gilbert, it was pestering. "Absolutely!"
This was before the police doors were slammed open, before the body wreathed in white linens was taken for tests, before the realization that there had been another murder.
A Mr. Merdle was now deceased.

Kern smiled as he grabbed the file he had yet to read. There was something fishy about the whole case... something that really couldn't be explained. He just needed to get to the middle of things to find out. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aidan looked at Viola for a moment before smiling. "I have another autopsy..." His brows furrowed. "Okay... now I'm getting barraged with them... that's just strange.... there's never a rush of reports being placed at the same time...." He looked back at Viola, to see if maybe she had an answer.

When Aidan looked back at her she gave him a weird look. "What? You think that just because I'm a good hacker that you can ask me for help?"
Viola smiled and ran over beside him. It was strange. Nothing like this had ever happened to her before. She started to brush her fingers across the keys to see if she could get passed the block.

Aidan nodded, watching her work. "I saw them one second, then they dissappeared only to reappear in full force. It's been doing this the last few seconds..."

"Well there is only three things that can be happening right now," Viola said still trying to get into the system. "One..They are just now reporting so many victims that they hadn't gotten to do earlier. Two..Some one else is hacking into the system to try to mess with them. Or three..So many people just died. Which I'm not really sure that last one can be possible."
Finally, she got into the systems. All of the reports showed up at once. A lot. Actually more than she had expected. She looked at Aidan. "Wow. I wasn't really expecting that many."

"Krissi, baby! The macaroni's done!"
Daniel tried to make the macaroni look as temptingly tasty as possible; they hadn't had enough milk to correctly make the packaged cheese sauce, so he had used water, which made it incredibly runny instead of thick and creamy. Ah, well. It would have to do.
Krissi pattered to the table, Big bumping along behind her. Quickly, the child scurried into her chair and picked up her large, brightly-coloured plastic fork a mom at Daniel's work didn't want anymore. She held out her paper plate expectantly, seeming to have forgotten that she'd had the same dinner for six nights in a row.
"Here you go, babe," smiled Daniel. His smile was strange, entrancing, in a way, but not exceptionally beautiful. His smile was what gave him his raise in the tiny hole-in-the-wall restaurant he currently worked in. His smile earned him huge tips.
All of that would be lost tonight, he knew it. He was going to buy enough food and clothes to run away with Krissi. Tonight was the last night their Mother would abandon them. Tonight was the night they'd treat her the way she'd treated them. Maybe he'd leave a note.
This caused him to chuckle, almost dropping the pot of sad, sorry macaroni. Krissi was attacking the food with vigour, occasionally holding up an over-loaded forkful to Big's perpetually smiling, and extremely dirty, mouth. Daniel picked up a twentieth-time-recycled fork from a fast-food joint and tucked in as well.
It was six o'clock. Still no word from their Mother.
But that was to be expected, after all. And after tonight, they wouldn't have to worry about it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Timothy Cimmerian's eyes narrowed.
Something had breached security in the Autopsy Clinic. Something, or someone, was looking at the files he'd purposely shown.
The young man smiled, snickering to himself. "Amateurs, really."
With no more than a flickering of his fingers, the screen went blank.
"I suppose you'll find that interesting, won't you?" Cimmerian smiled, a broad smiled, handsome in its own way, yet something was not quite right about it. "Oh, yes, you'll find that interesting. You'll find it so interesting you'll want to know more."
Cimmerian cast a scornful glance over at the sheet-covered body of Mr. Merdle. "And soon you'll join him, won't you?"
His smile returned, his gaze downcast as he quickly, mechanically, ran through the customary procedures for identifying the cause of death. "Yes, I think you will...."

Aidan shook his head, "I don't think it's any of those. You have to have access to the police site, which I have cause my dad uses my computers." He shook his head, "but there is no way to figure who or what or.... AGH!!" He plopped his head down for a moment before groaning. "Any ideas?"

Viola stared at it biting her lip. Thoughts ran through her head on how to get around it. Doubtfully she said,"Well...I could see if I can find a way around it."
She started brushing her fingers on the keyboard again, trying to find a way around it.

((Sorry guys, I've been way busy.)) Aidan watched the screen intently, he kept seeing flashes of what looked like pictures and stuff, but just as quickly as he saw it, it dissapeared. He shook his head, a hand snaking out and rubbing his eyes.
"Are you seeing this? It's like someone is one step-ahead of us and keeps changing the program as you get into it..." His eyes kept scanning trying to figure it out. "Try stop it in about five seconds... then we can see what is being hidden."

Viola scratched her head in frustation. "UGH! Everything I do is overridden." She looked at Aidan biting her lip. "Its like the person blocking us is watching us from somewhere."
Her eyes slide back to the screen as she tried to break in to the system. Normally she got in real easily, but someone knew exactly what she was doing and how she was doing it. That's when an idean popped into her mind.
A smile slide across her face as she started on the keyboard again. She saw Aidan's confused face and told him her idea.
"So this person has to know exactly what I'm using to break in. So maybe if I change it up a bit and switch some of the codes around...I might be able to get in."

Aidan nodded, "try something that is a no brainer. This person may be one of those overly thoughtful and only thinks about the hard things... maybe something like..." He looked around the room before saying the word. "Mountain Dew. He would definitely not think of that." He looked at Viola for a second before amending his thought. "Or her."
His eyes narrowed for a second, and looked around the room, all of the sudden paranoid. "What if we were being watched?"

Viola glanced at Aidan. "I was thinking the exact same thing." She got her attention back to the computer. I dont really liked being watched while i work. She thought. Again she started typing in codes to break the system.
