(( Time lapse: right after dinner))
Arabella sighed as she finished her last bite of Ninja Pasta. "Okay, I have not had that in such a long time." Her stomach was full. Two plate fulls of Pasta can really fill a person up. That seems like a lot, but there was still some of the pasta left in the pot. Carter had usually eaten most of the pasta.
Arabella watched Gabriel take his last few bites. "Well, what do you think?"

Gabriel had to smile, "okay, this is really actually pretty good. You should patent it, you may actually get something from it." A last bite proved to be just enough to fill him up. He glanced at the remains.
"Guess we're gonna have store the rest for another night."
As Gabriel leaned back in his chair to relax, an urgent knocking sent him into alert right away. Slowly Gabriel stood up out of the chair. As he slowly walked towards the door, more knocks resounded through the quiet air.
"Arabella.... you need to go upstairs. Now." He started walking closer to the door, his hand slowly making it's way to his hidden holster.

Arabella smiled at his reaction. "Well, I am glad that you like it." She started to clean off the table and and the dishes. As she was about to ask Gabriel a very important question, a sudden knocking scared her and made her drop the dishes she was holding.
Gabriel was immediately out of his chair and heading towards the door. "Arabella... you need to go upstairs. Now."
Arabella stared at the door for a second and then at Gabriel. She noticed his alert face and concern immediately showed on hers. "Gabriel, whats wrong? Do you know who is there?"

Gabriel shook his head, "no. But you really need to go upstairs. Okay?" He was closer to the door now. He ignored the sound of the plates breaking focusing every ounce of his concentration on the threat in front of him.
The knocking became more constant, loud, and even more desperate. Gabriel wasn't about to take chances with this one.

Arabella didn't want to go upstairs. This was her house, she should be allowed to do things as she wished. But Carter did tell Gabriel to take care of her. Clenching her teeth, she walked passed Gabriel and started to head for the stairs, but she turned around being the stubborn girl she is. "Gabe, let me answer the door if nothing is wrong!"

Gabriel looked back at her for a moment, "Arabella... please just go upstairs. Just this once?"
He was almost to the door now, and he had a feeling that whoever it was, was not going to wait a lot longer. He had to somehow convince her to go upstairs.... somehow.

Arabella was going to stand her ground. She didn't care what Gabriel thought. It was her house. Who cares if he was there to protect her. Nothing bad was really going to happen. Carter just wanted to someone to be there for her when she really needed someone. "Gabe, I am not leaving this room and that is final. Whatever is at that door, I am going to find out about!"
The knocking kept on getting louder along with her voice. Arabella figured that the person would probably get so mad that they would either break down the door or just leave. Though, they could probably hear the arguement that was going on. Why is he trying to force me to leave?

Gabriel turned around to convince Arabella to go upstairs when the sound of the door shattering made him turn. Just as he was pulling up his gun to take aim a body slammed into him.
Gabriel grunted as the force of the person slammed him into the corner of the coffee table. Gabriel struggled through the inky blackness that threatened to take over his mind. Thinking quickly, he kicked up into the stomach of the opposing force and grinned when he heard the sickening crack of a rib being broken.
Taking his chance, Gabriel forced the person off of him and uickly stood up. Gabriel pulled out his knife, the last weapon he had on person at the moment, and faced his opponent. He worked to keep himself between the intruder and Arabella.
"Arabella! Go upstairs, now!"

Arabella's eyes widened as the door was literally kicked down and a figure came into the house and slammed into Gabriel. You would think that she would have screamed, but she was in too much shock that nothing came out of her throat. She just stared not really sure what to do.
Gabriel kicked the figure, pushing him off. "Arabella! Go upstairs, now!"
All of a sudden, Arabella was brought back to reality. She turned toward the stairs and ran to lock herself in her room. As she slammed the door, she could still hear the scuffling from downstairs. Trying to calm herself down a little, she turned away from the door and toward her room. That's when she felt the breeze. Yes, the air was on, but this breeze was different.....like the window was open.
The window was open. Arabella tried to think back to see if she had even opened the window, but she hadn't. It was shut when she had been up here earlier that day. Something wasn't right. How could her window be open? She never opened it. And what in the world was going on downstairs?
Arabella decided to sit on her bed and wait for Gabriel. But she wanted to be able to watch her room in case there was someone in her room. She wasn't really sure that there was, but there was no other explanation as to why her window was open.

Gabriel listened to Arabella go up the stairs, his eyes still trained on the intruder. Neither of them made a move, each sizing the other up. Gabriel smiled, it appeared that the man knew not a whole about Gabriel and what he was capable of. He was too relaxed for that.
He walked forward a bit, ignoring the throbbing beginning in the back of his head. Twirling the knife he began his plan of attack. What he needed was a disabling move that would discourage the attacker from continuing on in his endeavor. A couple stabs in the abdominal region along with some brachial wounds should do the trick.
Quickly Gabriel ran forward, aiming his knife not at his intended target, but at the man's neck. Once the man initiated the block, Gabriel changed course and slashed at the right arm, going for a deep cut that would inflict pain and disable the man's dominant hand.
It worked, but the man was able to kick Gabe back and push him into the railing on the stairs, smashing them. Gabriel winced in pain, feeling a couple shards of wood stab into his back.

Arabella could still hear the scuffling from downstairs. She covered her ears trying to zone out of what was going on. But what was going on? That was an answer she would be finding out as soon as she could talk to Gabriel. Thoughts were rushing through her mind and she thought of what could be going on downstairs. Was he hurt? Will he be okay? How did he know who it was? Did he know who it was? Arabella didn't know what to do. So she just waited.

Gabriel pushed himself off of the stairwell, working past the pain to try and sight out the man. Except he was gone. Gabriel looked around quickly, a rush of dizziness over took him for a moment, and then he was slammed into the ground.
Gabriel yelled out in pain as the man pushed some shards of wood deeper into his back. The two men grappled for a moment before Gabriel managed to get out from under the man and quickly looked around for his knife. Gabriel spotted it at the knife at the same time as the man. A quick jump and Gabriel had the knife and managed to plant it in the man's shoulder, barely missing his heart.
The man fell to his knees and looked around for a moment. He made a sound that sounded like a groan of pain and a laugh. Gabriel glared at the man and then heard a slight scrape noise upstairs. "Arabella?!"

Arabella could hear Gabriel's screams. She tried to cover her ears, but it just didn't work. Suddenly, she heard a noise coming from her closet. Her head shot up like a bullet to face the closet. It was partially open like she had left it early. Slowly, she got off of the bed to see if she could see into the crack. That was when she saw the eyes.
The glint of a man's eyes stared right back at her from her closet. Not one muscle in her body could move. She wanted to scream out to Gabriel, but her body would not respond to her brain. His chuckle rang out from the closet as he got up and started to walk toward her.
"Arabella?!"
Gabriel's voice broke Arabella out of her daze and she screamed back at him. "Gabe, there's another man up here! Hel-"
The man shot after her and covered her mouth, cutting off her cry for help. He smelled like cigarette smoke, which made it hard for her to breathe. "Please, don't make this difficult for me. We just need to borrow you for something," the man chuckled.
Arabella reacted as fast as she could and did the only thing she could to get out of his grip. She kicked him right in the crotch. Immediately, he let go backing up towards the door. Her only exit. She ran around him and swung open the door, hitting him in the process. But he was just as fast as she was. Racing down the stairs after her, they were right in the middle of Gabriel's fight with his man.

Gabriel turned back to finish off the man, but he was gone. Just as soon as this realization hit him, he heard Arabella's screams. A quick glance around and the long lost gun. Gabe leaped for it, trying to ignore his body screaming at him in protest.
A small leap and a half-roll brought him up onto his knee, panting, but facing the stairwell. "Let Arabella go. NOW. You're friend is in pretty bad condition as it is, and I would really hate for you to get into a worse condition than that." He managed to get out the sadistic grin that he used on some people, knowing from the past that it worked in ways that words would not.

Arabella started to head for Gabriel knowing that he would protect her. But as soon as she started that direction, the man behind her grabbed at her, his arm around her waist, bringing her back toward him. Her body was now against his, one arm around her waist, the other covering her mouth. Eyes wide with fear, she looked straight at Gabriel, pleading for help.
"Let Arabella go. NOW. You're friend is in pretty bad condition as it is, and I would really hate for you to get into a worse condition than that."
The guy chuckled, his breath sliding down her back. Arabella had no idea why these guys were here, but she was going to get answers from Gabe as soon as this was all over....if it turned out like she hoped it would.
