[glow=Purple,2,300] Here's the plot: There's a ball going on that night for the maiden Ellanore (She's different in this roleplay than in the previous one.) For it is her 17th birthday. In the middle of the festivities all of the candles and lamps go out, leaving the ball room pitch black. There is a scream, and when the lights lit, they can't find Ellanore, or some other guests. Their only hope is that someone can rescue her from the unknown kidnapper before it's too late!
Now, we're going to need multiple characters. I'll be Ellanore, and I might put Cayden in this roleplay, but change him up a little. We really need the villian in this and a couple of unlikely heroes... I might make Cayden one of them if no one else will join for two of the heroes... No worries.[/glow]

((I think we should... I wasn't going to post an intro untill I was positive someone else was going to join... I'll be posting Ellanore's)) Ellanore sighed, once again, while waiting for the maid to finnish her hair. This was one of the main reasons why Ella ((This is her nickname... I'm not about to type out Ellanore each time.)) hated balls. That and every single man in the entire room is always so nit-picky and overly nice towards everyone else. So the women were forced to wear dresses that took forever to put on right, and hair dos that took hours to put up. If she was a man, she would still be able to go horseback riding for about an hour, and then hurry up and get tidy for the ball.

((okay, this is a very long post, sorry! I was wondering who to use, and I chose two story characters, one of them, obviously, Pyro, going by another nickname.))
"Now, Ben," A grinning young man turned to his friend after swallowing his bite of apple, "I have always wondered..." "What is it?" Ben scratched his head casually, only to find an unwanted guest and then scratch even more to remove it. "Oh, curses on me for believing the rumors... and more curses on me for starting them!" "What? What is it?" Ben grumbled, now scratching with both hands. The first tossed his apple core into the tall grass farther down from the dusty road they sat on, "Now," He stood and brushed himself off with one hand, turning to look down at Ben and smirking impishly, "It might just make you angry..." "You are already a terrible bother to me," Ben struggled with the nasty creature that had begun to bite him, "I cannot go much worse, I should think," "Ha!" The other let out a series of genuine chuckling, "You underestimate yourself by far!" "You are trying my patience... just tell me what you have to say and be done with it," "Well," The other plopped down, facing Ben, much to his surprise and further irritation, "Many of the other servants also wonder this, but no one else dare to be as truthful to you as I, your loyal friend," he paused for some dramatic effect, "but from your shyness and strange evasion during social gatherings is bound to make one wonder..." He grinned broader, "Do you fear women?" Ben's face suddenly did that terrible and assumedly impossible skin tone change from peach to cherry to plum, and by the last fruit, one could almost swear that steam emitted from every pore. Such a face could make those who knew him back away one or two or… three hundred steps, and to those who did not know him, laugh... for a short time, but afterward, they too decided that they would rather be among the living. Those people would turn away and pretend not to notice him. Ben's attitude was something of a beast, but his friend did not seem phased by it; in fact, he seemed almost delighted. "Now, sir! I cannot change what is in the thoughts of others, but you can do something to that effect. There is no reason to fear the maids! Surely, they will not harm you! And you will outgrow this childish shyness!" As his friend spoke, Ben's muscles tensed, and his teeth tightened until his mouth trembled. He was making an effort, -not because he didn't want to yell and threaten the former, -for he truly did, but he just did not feel like throwing a fit on such a nice day while he was trying to calm down from episodes of earlier. The stupid imp was trying to make him mad and was still talking on and on... "...but for one who has been following girls around since he was a child, I could not know what it is like to be so terribly intimidated by them as you are. -Even the sweet, gentle, quiet ones, Ben? Do they frighten you so?" That grin was still there. Ben sensed that there was a real reason behind the teasing, "What do you want from me?" He managed between his teeth. "Ah, you have caught on to me earlier than I suspected," The other replied, removing his shoes and shaking the dirt out, "How long have we been working the stables here?" "Some time... since before winter," Ben rubbed his head where he had been bitten. The other lad was still dusting himself off, "Counting the years between when I left home and when we found work here, I have not seen a ball for five years. The Lady Ellanore, daughter of the master of this land, is having one tonight." This time, Ben laughed, "So by brushing and cleaning out your shoes, you think the doorman will allow a ragged boy like you inside?" "Well, I know that the doorman trusts you... fortunately, the only one you have yet to yell at for one reason or another will be greeting the guests tonight. Poor fools such as I never have the time to befriend doormen while they are working horses all day," He gave Ben a knowing half-glare, "I know that he may just let us both inside if you attend tonight." "Why would I want to go to a ball?" Ben was still laughing. "I was telling the truth when I told you that the others think you are afraid of women. Just as afraid as a hen among foxes," His comparison only did to redden Ben's face again. "You dance with one woman, and I will tell everyone, and you will have your enlarged ego restored to the way it was before this mess," He offered his hand to Ben and helped him up, "Now, I found a trough that the horses haven’t thrown hay in; -we can wash up in there…” They began walking back to the stable. “Oh,” Ben stopped, “Ignis?” “Yes?” A blow went to his jaw. “Stop starting rumors about me!” Ben ran on ahead of him. “Oh yes, hit the poor, deranged cripple!” Grabbing his left arm and waving it, “You must be proud of yourself, Ben!” Ignis laughed, before muttering, “For someone who hits like that, I think he should be afraid of women…haha,”

((yes, yes I did! I don't know what's gotten into me. Technically, even that isn't his real name, but even if I knew and had everyone call him by his real, birth-given name, it would be way too difficult to type up so many times! XD Oh yes, Benny-Bear. Benny Bunny! Benjamin the... ^_^; *hugs him* my boys are together again! Both: Yay? Ignis: *whispers to Ben*run while you still have legs. I got a bit of Ahearn-and-Baethaness in there, but I've been using those characters more recently. -_- But Ben in willingly friends with Ignis, and he picks on him back.))

((lol... not literally... I just laughed out loud. roflmao.)) Ellanore, she was finnally done, earlier than expected too. She couldn't do anything though, for she might mess up her dress, or a lock would fall out of place and the whole ordeal would start over again. 'I wonder who father put on the guest list. I hope he didn't event that count.' She shuddered at the thought and hoped he didn't. The talk of the town was that she was throwing the ball. It was more like her father was. It was his idea, so that maybe a suitor would come up and ask for her. She had a feeling that she wouldn't enjoy that person, no matter who it was. She also knew that her father didn't really care who came, as long as most of the people he invited came. There was always extra food and drinks. She sighed and sat down, waiting for the ball to go underway so she could make a bigger, more spectacular entrance as her mother was forcing her to do.

((what did you lol at?))
Ignis came gasping from the water, red bangs dripping over his eyes. He turned over his shoulder, “Was that necessary?” He asked incredulously. The only respond that came was another shove. The young man kicked hard, trying not to let his panic make his breaths come short as he was under the water. He fought his way up again and fell over the side of the trough onto the ground. “Ignis! Are you playing with the livestock again?” Ben’s voice came as he turned the corner. Ignis pushed his bangs away from his eyes, “I could be…” and he stood up quickly, “Did you find our good clothes?” Ben held up a bundle, before turning his attention to the mess of mud and hay surrounding the trough. His friend stood between the slosh and a young cow, who stood there looking innocently back at Ben. “You got hay in the trough,” He looked irritated. Ignis couldn’t rid himself of the grin, “She came up behind me with the intent to drown me and you are upset because of some hay in the water? For shame!” Ben approached the cow carefully and put a gentle hand on her neck, he led her away, tossing some of the clothing behind him. “Ah, I have not worn something like this since I was a child.” Ignis looked the attire over, “Now… how does one put this on again…?” “I found them right where they were left,” Ben stated as he came back, scratching his curly head once more, “We never did wear these, did we?” “We have not that I remember,” Ignis answered, removing the bandaging that completely covered his left arm, “but now we can if they will fit us,” “Yes, I believe you have gotten taller,” Ignis laughed again, “Make jests while you can, but the arrows will go over my head while they go through yours,” “Oh yes, that was me who had grown, -not you!” “I hope that your clothes are too short on you,” Ignis snickered. But everything fit as it should have, and after a bit more attention, the two stable workers were noblemen, smiling smugly as servants in disguise were bound to do; Ben, wearing a fine hat, and Ignis with a cape that covered the left side of his body (with good reasoning, for he would be found out easily otherwise). Of course, they also both had masks, -very nice ones that no servant would ever have been able to afford… “Stop scratching, peasant,” Ignis mock-scolded in an arrogant tone as they approached the wide-open front door (the one they had never even seen from a close distance). The doorman did not recognize them but also did not stop them, and so, they decided that it was best to take advantage of the fact rather than go through bribes. The ballroom was magnificent! It was so full of festive music and elegant decorations! –and dancers; so many beautifully-dressed dancers. A glimmer shone in Ignis’s eyes beneath his mask, “Ben…” “What do you want me to do now?” “Dance with the lady Ellanore…” “WHAT?” “Dance with Ellanore when she comes down!” “What ideas you have…” Ben was also considering it, and he did admittedly feel somewhat nervous, but that was still a very attractive chance for mischief to just let pass. “Tell me when you see her,” “Oh, but she will be wearing a mask! You must dance with all of the girls!” “WHAT?” “It is a masquerade… if I recognize her, I will tell you,” “You are enjoying yourself terribly,” Ben muttered. “Oh yes, very much!” Ignis answered, pushing Ben forward.

Ella sighed as she put the mask on and walked into the ball room. Her father spotted her, and started his speech. It lasted quite some time, and he added at the end, "the festivities are going to begin now. The maid of honor is here, and we no longer shall hold back. At midnight, we'll all take our masks off, and you can find out if you had the chance to dance with my lovely daughter." At that the music started up and gentlemen started to ask girls to dance. It wasn't long before she was asked to a dance and she started to dance. It was a lively waltz, and she was having fun with it. ((We need someone to be a villian!))

Ignis was still leaning against the railing at the top of the stairs, having a good laugh as he watched his friend being tossed about the floor. Apparently, women actually found Ben attractive. Just wait until you see the other half of his face... He mused. From the young man’s body language, he probably had a look of terror as he danced. Ignis could not wait until it was midnight so he could see it. Poor Ben, his pride was dragged all over the place with him and there would not be much left of it by the time they were to unmask. Yawning slightly, Ignis began descending the steps, “Is that what you call “leading”, sir?” He called as the unfortunate Ben’s arm nearly left its socket. “How does one dance with one arm?” Ben retaliated, his voice mostly drowned out by the loud and vibrant playing. “Well, it would help to be on his feet rather than his hands to begin with!” Ignis shot back, snatching the arm of a lady as she passed him. “And he plays the part of his masquerade very well!” His face changed, much straighter, much more serious, “Hello, m’lady,” He looked somewhat over his shoulder, and pulled the cloak more closely around him. The lady leaned in, “What is it?” She asked in a whisper. “I feel there will be trouble later on this evening…” Ignis said in a matter-of-fact but mysterious tone. The lady copied his tone, “Oh yes, keep watch. You never know…” It was an act between two masked people. All for the fun of the masquerade! But neither knew that real trouble would soon be upon them. Ignis continued his “mysterious strange” act. And under his dark tone, inside he was laughing boyishly. As it became darker, and lamps were lit, he kept his gaze down, -somewhat adding to the person he was pretending to be. He dared to look up at some point to see the familiar black hair of Ellanore. All along, he knew he would have been able to see her anywhere, -even behind a mask. (He knew her horses quite well too as he was the one who usually exercised them when the maiden came out for a ride) Oh, but Ben, friend of the doorman that he was, did not know that. He was still dancing with every girl who met him, all the while wondering when that impish friend of his would recognize Ellanore so he could get some of his pride back before work tomorrow! Ellanore was very close by, but Ben was not. “Pardon me, lass, but I must return to the shadows…” Ignis choked a chuckle into his parting. But Ellanore was walking away from him! He began to run! His cape uncovered his arm (that had been tied to his side) as he literally jumped in between her and a potential partner. Undoubtedly, she would recognize him too. Ben gave him a look from across a sea of women, and Ignis gave a solemn nod back. With a sigh, Ben began to head toward her, -the last girl! Oh finally! He had begun to wonder if that imp would ever find her! Ben was not having fun. He wanted to be sleeping or working on his reading, -not surrounded by noisy, noble men and women, all covered in their expensive, arrogant clothing. He hated balls. ((I'll play one if you play the other. Villians ought to work in teams))

((Yus... that is how it works...)) Ella saw Ignis and chuckled inwardly as he had jumped infront of the man about to ask her for another dance. She was glad she would have a moment to rest from the constant dancing. "Do you have a problem with the other men? Am I too good to dance with them?" She spoke in a joking tone that she normally used around Ignis. She didn't think it mattered how you spoke to one that worked with the horses all day. Sides, what else was she to say to one with such impish character.

((I hoped she wouldn't get mad at him. XD)) "Perhaps, mysterious woman," Ignis was still playing, "Do not let your guard down, for I may be any-" He noticed his uncovered arm and his voice changed, "Oh, and now my own arm betrays me! I had better cover that up while His Lordship and the lovely female guests still believe I am..." He looked over his shoulder, and forgot what he had been saying, "not to say you are not beautiful yourself tonight, m'lady, but it was a surprise seeing you in woman's clothes," He hadn't really believed he could fool her either. (Beside that, he might have been the only red-haired man shorter than Ellanore that she knew) "Now, the ladies here are nice to look at, and I mean no offense to them or to you, but they are so dull and vain... but even that did not make these well-planned festivities uneventful. It was great fun strutting in here, and amusing to watch a certain friend dance; -almost more so than it was to pretend to be a rogue squire to his Lordship, your father. -I meant no ill will toward him, but I felt like being a terrible scoundrel tonight,"

Ellanore laughed, "it's okay. I don't mind that you wanted to have some fun. I should think that father would notice the boredom that fills this place unless there is a party going on." She decided to ignore his comment on seeing her wear woman's clothes. It was true though that she would dress in boy's clothes to go riding.

"If I may speak my mind, I think it suits you well," Ignis brushed off his shoulder again, "I do not believe that nobility was ever quite right on me, though," He grinned again as though in some jest known only to himself. He did that often. Ben came up behind Ella and hesitantly tapped her shoulder. To Ignis' amusement, his face was red, -but more from embarrassment than anger. Either way, the former knew that he would have thoroughly enjoyed himself tonight. “Now, who is this fellow? Is it Bejamin, Duke of…” “Ignis-” Ben sighed. “Duke of “Ignis” you say? Is there something about me that I should know about? You two have not been acquainted as of yet, and so I will let you to your dance, while I go off to my fiendish mischief, scoundrel that I am tonight!” He walked away, snickering, and disappeared within the crowd. Ben watched him go with the mixed feeling of terror and anger as though he were being abandoned. Perhaps he was slightly intimidated by Ellanore… but not afraid by any means! When she turned around, he forced himself to take her hand, bow rather stiffly, and ask to dance in a less than enthusiastic voice.

Ellanore turned around to see the Benjamin fellow and smiled at him. In the offset of her mind, he looked familiar, but then again she never could be sure, for she sees many a person daily. She nodded her head, "I wouldn't mind too. You seem to be a more lively dance than any other well mannered buffoon in here. Because, no offense to you, anyone who is a friend of Ignis wouldn't be of the noble kind." She hoped he understood what she meant by way of his humor. No good, snobby noble person would have a friend with that kind of humor... it just simply wasn't done.

((You’d be surprised XD)) “Uh…” His mouth hung agape for awhile, “no,” Taking a short breath he moved forward, his shaking hand coming to rest on Ella while still grasping her right hand was his own. He needed to say something… “I am… was… apprenticing as a tailor… some years back… I may be a peasant, but I am not slow-witted,” He glared in the direction he had seen his friend go, “If he has told you anything about me…?” He wondered aloud before stating, “He was making it up,” He shouldn’t be talking about himself! No, inquire about her! The music began to play louder, and he shouted helplessly, “Which of the horses is your favorite?”
