ooc- I'd like to introduce something new that I use in my writings, it enables me to put down Gabriel's whole story. It's called a memory shard. I think I made a character with the ability, can't remember. Anyway, it's an item of the person that, when activated by strong emotion, emits visions and feelings to the person touching it from the owner's past. So if anyone wants to use that ability here, fine with meh. Gabriel's shard it a black-leather collar with a red id tag, the id tag is the specific shard and the collar is just the carrier. He keeps it in his pocket.
bic-Gabriel nodded curtly, a silent acceptance of his explanation. "You are to trail someone, but you don't know who it is. And they expect it to work it out." he commented dryly. He was really asking, just sort of stating his silent opinion. The vampire fiddled with the cloth of his cloak for a moment, but left the hood down, and shifted his weight. Then, he gave a light chuckle. "Do you think I would allow wolves in my city if they did this to me? No. The monster who did this to me is one of our own blood," he murmured. The scars on his chest, unseen by the outside world, burned at the memory. His hand fell to his pocket, where he fingered the smooth black leather and the cold tag, tracing the numbers.
09-176.
"If you have nothing better to do, I could tell you the story, but I'm sure a clan vampire such as yourself has things to do?" Gabriel had never minded telling the story, because, over the centuries, his human companions had always asked or found out. The blonde, Llewyn. She'd found out before Gabriel had told her, by getting hold of his collar one night. Roan knew the story too, probably the most recent to hear it.
ooc- *gags and dies* Short. Illiterate. *shrivels up*

((*pats the shriveled up Willow* It's alright.)) Kenyon shrugged his shoulders. He didn't care either way if he heard the story or not. He knew it was a long one by the look on the guys face, and he also knew that he shouldn't be sitting in there for long. His prey would be starting to find a hiding spot for the day, and he was in no mood to search during the day.
"I have stuff to do, but I'll sit and listen. I've learned by now that we have nothing but time, and so it's alright to stop and listen to another." --- Cam started to press her hands up to her ears, as if to block something out. 'The voices... they're too loud!' Cam thought, eyes squeezed shut tightly, her mind abuzz with all the different voices she was hearing. No, these voices weren't from what was spoken aloud in the pub. It's from all the people in the pub, or rather, from their thoughts.
She tried to block them out, but it wasn't working what-so-ever.
((Sorry about the random, mind reading powerness. I wanted to do something to her, and getting the power to read minds from her change made it more interesting to me cause she obviously can't control what she hears and what she doesn't. Let's hope that a perverted old man doesn't walk by. XP))

ooc- ROFL. And I'm just gonna type up his story in...short story mode. Not rp mod. that'll take to long. Then we should probably wait on Kendi.
bic-
"Breena!" Gabriel pounded on the door. "Open the door!"
"Go away!" she shouted back from inside the cottage. Gabriel, annoyed, fumbled on the door knob, then knocked again.
"You could at least talk about it," he muttered. Then, he jumped as the door creaked open, and Breena glared at him.
"What?"
"Just let me in. It's pouring out here," he replied, gesturing to the stormy sky and pounded rain. A rumble of thunder echoed through the air, and reluctantly, Breena stepped back to allow Gabriel passage. --- He'd been there for hours, waiting out the rain, when a second knock came. Puzzled, he looked at Breena, who shrugged and made for the door.
"Who is it?" she asked timidly.
"It's me."
Gabriel stiffened. No, he was dead. They'd found the body....but there was no mistaking that voice. Breena threw open the door without thinking, and there was a thud, then a splatter as blood hit the ground. Gabriel sprang to his feet, jaw dropped, his grey eyes wide with fear. Breena choked, and coughed, and more blood hit the ground. The blood-coated blade of the dirk drew back from her throat, and Ellis threw the body to the ground, stepping over her with a smirk on his pale face.
"E-Ellis," Gabriel croaked.
"Better start praying, Gabriel," Ellis said hoarsly. "'Cause it's hell from here on out."
The knife slashed at his throat but missed as Gabriel dropped down. He fumbled for the fire poker, and lashed back at Ellis. It glanced of his shoulder and knocked the knife across the floor, and a moment later, Ellis attacked him. Gabriel's shirt now bore a rip from shoulder to hip, and blood began to leak through the fabric. Ellis seized Gabriel by the shoulders, and sank pearly fangs into his throat for a beat before throwing him to the ground.
"Ellis! What-" Gabriel choked, and Ellis stood on Gabriel's back before crouching down.
"You left me, you hell demon," Ellis snarled. "You left me with him."
"What're you talking about?"
Ellis slashed at Gabriel's back, ripping from the wound in his neck down his back, leaving several long gashes that would scar for the rest of time. "I'll make sure you die as painfully as I did, and ten times over."
--- Gabriel snapped out of his reverie for a moment, his eyes opening. "Ellis proceded to throw me around that room for another hour, making sure I only bled enough to be painful, but not kill me. He struck me across the face, and I became weak from blood loss. I couldn't fight back. Ellis broke three ribs, pretty much lacerated my throat, and broke up my vision in my right eye. Then, he force-fed me his own damned blood, and left me in that room until the sun rose. Ellis disappeared."
Gabriel let out a small sigh. "Time. You don't know time unless you've spent the last two thousand years in pure pain." Gabriel said bitterly. "Ellis put something in my wounds, so they are sore, all the time. They should have healed long ago, but they never do."
He looked at Kenyon. "I don't want pity, or anything. I just want other bloodsuckers to know. So they know that nothing they can do to me can be worse than this, living hell. I'd kill myself, except I still haven't gotten Ellis. I want him to know."
"Before he left, he brought me outside, and staked me to an oak tree." Gabriel pulled aside his cloak, revealing he bore no shirt, and pointed to a deep, blackened scar in his midchest between two white scars. "I was brought into the shadow by a female vampire who'd been in the area before dawn." He glanced up at the bar, at the petite blonde, who half-grinned back at him. "So, what's your story?" Gabriel asked, looking back at Kenyon. "Surely you've got a tragic end in their somewhere."
ooc- Kinda corny, I know. I had fun making up Gabriel's death story.

Kenyon nodded, "yes. I've had many a thing happen to me in my lifetime. There is one main reason why I hate wolves though. You really willing to hear it?" ((is there anything I should do with Cam?))

"Like you said, all we got is time," Gabriel said with a shrug. At a motion from him, the waitress returned a glass full of what was now clearly blood.

((Sorry about taking forever to post Willow!!!)) Kenyon nodded, "okay... but you asked for it." Leaning back into his chair Kenyon thought for a moment before deciding that it was okay to go ahead and tell Gabriel. He also made another split second decision. He could either tell the entire tale verbatim, or use his memory shard, which wasn't what those would think to look fore. It was actually something he had stumbled upon. The fact that it was a deep blue cross didn't bother him the least bit. He always kept it on a silver chain, in the secret pocket of his cloak, or wrapped around his wrist. He never has been one for jewelry. He decided against using the memory shard, and to just tell it orally.
"It started way before I became this..." he motioned at himself and towards the cup of blood he was holding. "My family was more traditional... well actually we were more of learning center for hunters. You name it and they trained it. Well there was multiple persons that didn't really like the type of business, can't really say that I blame them. Most don't like it when your the one training people to kill their race." At that remark he shifted nervously, it was after all the first time anyone really had taken an interest about what had aspired that night.
"It was all expected of course. To take care of the potential problem there, each member of the family was trained and put through the same program as the trainees. Makes for an interesting family. Bored, why not have a karate match with Grandma." He shrugged, "I always though it was normal. It was for me at least. One thing that really was the part that ruined it all was when my parents decided to bring in actual 'specimens', as we were supposed to call them, and have the students practice on them." A pained looked splashed his face.
"I was about to take over, and well, I guess I chose the right werewolf to get a reaction." I was 22, and as happy as I thought I could be. Married, a beautiful 2 year-old, and another on the way. I thought nothing could touch me... and when it did, it hit hard."
Taking a deep breath, he struggled to get on with it... the past two, almost three centuries hadn't really helped him get over it. "I just put my baby to bed when I heard something downstairs. Thinking that maybe one of the dogs had managed to get inside. Downstairs, I found the exact opposite. A werewolf stood there, from what I managed to gleam it was at least one thousand years old, it may have been older... I'm not entirely sure.
"I was fully prepared to attack and kill him, but he had managed to grab my wife, eight months pregnant. She couldn't do anything. Then the vile creature cut my wife's throat killing her almost instantly. Swiftly it threw her away like a sack of leaves and ran towards the stairs. Running after it, the only thought in my mind was to save my daughter. I was too late.
"Running on anger and grief, I charged at it... weaponless. Which was entirely my fault. I could have at least grabbed the throwing knives on my daughter's dresser, the ones that her eccentric grandma bought for her, claiming I had a set when I turned two. The creature grabbed me and threw me across the room and back into the hall." He stopped his emotions, which was about to spill over blocking them immediately from sight and mind.
"I once again ran at him," he shrugged. "Thinking about it now, I hit myself about it. In the end I lost, closer to death than anything else, and no more family. I did the first thing I thought of, I drank the vampire blood I keep around the house... it's kinda like a trophy in my family. I had one special vial of the only close call... and well, let's say it was already to change me. I decided that once I extricated my revenge, then I could easily kill myself."
He looked at Gabriel for a moment and then sighed, "sorry, I'm ranting... didn't really mean to take so long." ((Sorry about the extra long post Willow.))

ooc- S'alright. And don't ever apologize for literacy.
bic- His story of loss wasn't to different from Gabriel, although the pain was much deeper, more intense. The silver-eyed vampire had lost a sister, and a best friend. He listened, his chin resting on his clasped hands, his elbows propped up on the table. The glass lay untouched beside his right arm. A two-year-old, a little girl. Gabriel felt a brief moment of bitterness, for he himself could never have children. For a moment, he wasn't sure if he should ask the fate of the daughter. Surely he already knew....(ooc-I didn't see anything about the kid being killed in the story, but excuse me if I missed it...)
"What about your daughter? What happened to her?" His voice was emotionless as his eyes, the twin pools slightly unfocused, uncaring. As if nothing, not even the slaughter of a little girl mattered. Surely that had been her fate. But Gabriel, for reasons unknown even to himself, wanted to know.

Kenyon had a look of pain fill his eyes once more. "I failed... the horried beast killed her, it made her feel the pain. It all but made me go crazy hearing her screams." He shook his head as if to get the bad memories out of his mind. "Now you know the reason behind all of my actions. The only thing that keeps me going on every day."

Gabriel nodded, taking a drink. "I assume you did try to kill yourself," he murmured, glancing up and across the tavern before back at his companion, his pale silver eyes indifferent. It was plain that he'd grown used to the unfeeling. Pain was a far ago feeling. He'd already gone so far, and now, it probably would let him go back. Not easily. So he let the flow drag him along, drowning him with the undertow. That was how things went in life. You could fight the current and possibly fail, or you could just go along. Become a monster.

Kenyon nodded, "I did once I realized what I had done. Once all was said and done, and in the end I had won..." He shook his head to show how useful it was. "I never knew how high of a survival instinct the mind has. I never really could get the courage to do it. Of course my family disowned me... haven't seen them in awhile though. I decided to get into some good work, so now here I am." He looked around the tavern, not really sure what had really brought him to this particular tavern... maybe it was just instinct.

"Work for a vampire...That's a laugh," Gabriel said, chuckling darkly. He stretched, arched his back until it popped and then stared out across the tavern. "You might be able to find some odd jobs or kill for hire, but with your past, I don't think you care for hirelings, do you?"
He sighed. "It sounds like thats what came after your lot. A hireling, killer for pay. I doubt he collect though..." Gabriel chuckled again, turning his glass, in his hand. He didn't remember what had brought him here.

Nodding, he made a face. "I may not like them, but I need more information. I've avoided joining that rank for awhile." He took a sip of his drink.
"I'm beginning to wonder if the only way to win the information that I want is to become what I hate." He glanced at Gabriel for a moment, choosing his words so that he would not insult the vampire. "What do you specialize in? It's apparent your high up in this area.

"Don't mess with it," Gabriel advised dryly, eyes flickering. The man interested him, vaguely. His talents could be useful, if directed the right way.
High up. Gabriel almost let out a snort of laughter but he choked it back, letting mild amusement flit across his face. The vampire leaned back in his chair, letting it sit on two legs.
"Coven leader in this area. I deal with underground, patrolling, raids..." He waved a hand, looking nochalant about it. He didn't want this vampire, Kenyon, thinking he was a big airhead.

Kenyon nodded, so he was an important person... best not to get on his bad side. "So, you've probably hear various rumors and such?" His eyes flicked at Gabriel's face, the vampire obviously got amusement from Kenyon's observation. He wondered at how different the other vampire was to many he had encountered.
Taking a sip of his drink, he began to go over what he already knew. On the one hand he just met a vampire that was in a position to obtain the information that he needed despretly. On the other, he didn't like using someone else to aquire such important information.
